18. Interior

12/30/07 - Test fitted the rear seats to make sure they fit with the new package tray and trunk divider.  Also installed the rocker panel covers.

1/6/08 - Installed the carpet, console, and passenger side seat track (driver's side is on backorder).

1/13/08 - I have the headliner nearly installed.  I just need to install the sail panels and wind lace.

1/16/08 - Went back to the headliner to get some of the wrinkles out and ended up re-doing 3 or 4 one foot sections.  It looks REALLY good in person.  I am psyched that I accomplished this.  It was not easy and took a lot of patience.  I figure that I spent about 15-20 hours on it!  I just need to install the sail panels, wind lace, dome light, and rear interior trim.

1/25/08 - Got the rear view mirror, sail panels, and windlace installed.  To install the sail panels, I used door panel clips in the top 2 holes and a 3" wide strip of Industrial Strength veclro along the entire bottom edge.  The 3rd bottom hole for the clip did not align, hence the use of velcro.  I think this worked out better in the end as the velcro keeps is tight from point to point on the bottom of the sail panel.  The top 2 door panel clips REALLY suck the panel down in place (it "popped" down very tightly) forcing the panel to curve with the back of the car.

I also got the dome light and both kick panels installed today!

1/27/08 - Got the seat belt bolts in for all 4 locations.  I will be ordering Simpson Camlock belts for all 4 seats.

2/2/08 - Installed rear and front headliner trim.  The headliner is now complete!   Alo installed the 2 front roof pillar covers.  I will be installing the dash soon, so I started prepping for that.  The way that the dash face attaches is a real pain on a '69 and my pad did not come with the needed clips (which are not repro'd).  I was able to find some clips for a GTO dash that fit perfect.  Ames has them in their catalog.  I used 3M trim glue on the clips, popped them in, and then covered the perimeter of the clip with the 3M glue just to make sure that they stay put.

2/10/08 - Installed the quarter window regulators and sliders alomg with the rear arm rests.

4/24/08 - The rear seats are back from the upholsterer.  They were covered with the rear seat kit material from ProCar that will match the ProCar Rally 1000 front seats.  I had the upholsterer cover them because they are for a Camaro and the firebird rear seat is several inches narrower, so they had to be restitched on the ends.
