Final Body Prep Part 2

1/5/07 - The shell is at the bodyshop and bodywork has begun.  A full day has been spent grinding welds, filling, and smoothing the firewall.

1/19/07 - The bodyshop now has 1 person on the shell fulltime.  This whole week was spent on the shell.  About 1/2 of this time was spent grinding welds and the rest was spent applying filler and sanding.  The "bodywork" is just about done with just a little sanding left to do.  They should start shooting primer next week.

1/24/07 - The shell has moved to the paint booth!  The bodywork and all of the prep. sanding is done.  It will be in primer by the end of the week.

1/26/07 - The body is in primer!  Some final sanding of the primer, a lot of seam sealing, and final paint will be sprayed on the bottom, jambs, and firewall.

6/24/09 - Doors and fenders are back from the sand blaster.  The doors are amazingly perfect.  The fenders, which are from CA, will both require a 3" x 3" repair (steel patch) at the bottom lower rear corner, but they are otherwise perfect.  Due to the quality (lack of) of aftermarket fenders, these are well worth repairing!

1/29/07 - The shop has begun seam sealing all interior and exterior bottom seams with 3M seam sealer (tan colored and comes in tubes).

1/31/07 - The rubberized coating has been sprayed on the interior and the rockers/wheel wells have been taped off for rubberized rocker spray.  Sealer and paint should be sprayed tomorrow!

2/1/07 - 3M rubbarized coating sprayed on rockers, wheel wells, and over undderside seams.  Paint tomorrow!
